Based on knowledge gained from these lessons,
the students will write an extended response
(see Student Essay
Requirement) to express their
understanding of how the virtues, values, and
personal qualities prized in East Asian
societies can be found in nature and in art.
Activity
- Have the students get into small groups of
four to seven and discuss the virtues,
values, and personal qualities associated
with their seals, Chinese words, plants,
garden design, paintings, and poems. Allow
the students about four to six minutes for
discussion.
- Give the students the Student Essay
Requirement and have them complete the
writing assignment.
