  1. Teacher asks: What should good work look like?
  2. Students' responses form the basic rubric.
  3. Levels within each response establish standards for evaluation.
  4. Typical responses about good work include completion, craftsmanship, and appropriateness to assignment subject and material used.
  5. Typical levels of achievement may include excellent, outstanding, mostly, somewhat, minimal, not at all, did not participate, etc.
  6. Students should reach consensus on evaluation rubrics prior to beginning the assignments.
  7. Points may be assigned for each level and the usual percentage of total may be used to assign grades.
